PURIFICATION PUJA

Lama Tegchog and Lama Tenpa
performed the traditional purification puja
for Michael Norbu. He mimicked a praying
posture. The puja is to get rid of obstacles.

WHAT IS A NAME?

A few hours after the birth, I managed
to call Mingyur Rinpoche to ask for
Michael's buddhist name. Rinpoche bestowed
the name Karma Norbu Dhondup. What a coincidence
because my own Buddhist name is Karma Norbu.
Norbu means Jewel.

So his full name is Michael Januardi Hadiwijaya Norbu
Dhondup. Januardi is Michael's grand father.

Birth of Michael Norbu

Michael was 2 months premature and was delivered by Caesarean operation.
He weighed only 2.1kg and had to be put in the ventilator for 2 weeks.

This is the very first picture which was taken 4 hours after delivery. He did not even have time to be bathed.
